Childcare - Toddler Teacher (1+ years experience, Full Time)
Are you interested in making a difference in the lives of young children? First Lutheran Children’s Programs is looking for a patient, fun loving and compassionate toddler teacher who has experience working with children ages 1 to 3 years old. The First Lutheran Children’s Program teacher will help lead developmentally appropriate activities that encourage healthy, physical, emotional, and social development for children. We are offering a $500.00 sign on bonus.
Responsibilities:
Assist co-teacher in planning age appropriate activities/lessons.
Foster a classroom environment of safety and respect.
Perform daily cleaning routines to keep the classroom and facility sanitary and safe.
Prepare and serve snacks and meals throughout the day.
Keep parents informed and updated on their child’s progress and daily activities.
Requirements:
BS or AS in Early Childhood Education
Will accept Child Development Credential (CDA) with a High School Diploma

Western Maine Play Museum is a children’s museum in Wilton, Maine. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission to inspire children, connect families, and build community through exploration, learning, and play.
We are seeking candidates for our EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR position. The Executive Director reports to our Board of Directors and will be responsible for all day-to-day operations of the museum including hiring, scheduling, supervising, and reviewing the performance of additional staff/volunteers; managing the operations budget; developing and directly implementing programming; grants research and grant writing to supplement the budget and new programming; collaborating with collateral community resources; and acting as a liaison to the greater Franklin County region on behalf of the Museum (further duties/expectations listed below).
This is a salaried position with the expectation of time required to perform duties to average 30-35 hours per week, with some flexibility.

Starting Pay: $36,000 with $5,000 health benefit stipend, and 2.5% aggregate bonus based on successful grant writing.
Hours Expected: 30-35 hours per week
Position Description:
Provides leadership and direction to Western Maine Play Museum by setting the operational and cultural tone; coordinates with the Board of Directors on long-term planning and alignment with vision, mission, and goals; serves as the museum representative in the community; directs museum programming; manages fundraising and grant writing efforts; and oversees the management of museum staff and volunteers, to include hiring and supervising staff.
Leadership and Management:
Sets operational and cultural tone through behavior and communication.
Is a regular presence in the museum and cultivates relationships with visitors and members.
Collaborates with the Board of Directors to develop long-term goals.
Establishes learning and training models for ongoing staff development.
Provides staff and volunteer supervision and leadership.
Develops volunteer staffing program including recruitment, training, and retention of volunteers.
Manages daily and weekly cleaning schedules.
Informs the Board of museum activities and raises concerns in a timely manner.

Marketing:

Maintains the website and social media channels.
Community Engagement:
Acts as the “face of the museum” and liaison to the local community, media, and government officials and agencies.
Manages partnerships with local organizations.
Engages with and cultivates relationships with major donors and foundations.
Establishes and maintains relationships with visitors, members, and volunteers.
Attends community events to promote the museum.
Plans and executes an annual membership appreciation event.
Develops and maintains relationships with local schools.
Fiscal Resource Development:
Develops and executes short and long-term fundraising plans and tracks results.
Manages day-to-day financial operations and cash flow.
Maintains consistent communication with the Board treasurer and accountant.
Manages approved grants to ensure compliance with grant requirements.
Manages memberships to ensure retention and referrals to increase numbers.
Oversees weekly bank deposit(s).
Collaborates with the Board of Directors to develop the annual budget.
Reports on fundraising efforts at monthly Board meetings.
Organizes volunteers for fundraising events and efforts.
Develops and executes the annual giving campaign.

Qualifications:
Montessori Toddler Teacher certification (AMS preferred) or a comparable four-year degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
Experience working with toddlers in a Montessori setting is preferred.
Passion for early childhood education and a strong commitment to facilitating sensorial and nature-based learning opportunities.
Understanding of child development and the ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of individual children.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues.

About this Role
Under the direction of the Youth Development Director, and working with the Lead Teacher, the Teacher is responsible for management of a preschool classroom.
Our preschool is open 7:30am - 5:30pm. Teachers work an opening or closing shift.
Your responsibilities will include:

We’re looking for someone with:
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (or be actively enrolled in a GED or HiSET preparation program).
Twelve months of experience working in an age-appropriate child care-related position.
Effective interpersonal skills, with a customer service focus.
Ability to work independently as well as within teams to complete all work in a timely and effective manner.
Attention to detail and excellent organizational and decision-making skills.
Additionally, the right candidate must:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Be able to travel locally.
Be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Complete a criminal background check, including fingerprinting through the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), prior to hire. This will be paid for by the YMCA of Southern Maine.
Salary
$18.00 - 19.00/hour, depending on experience.
PLUS, up to $540/monthly stipend from the State of Maine, through the Early Childhood Educator Workforce Salary Supplement System, for eligible educators. (While available. Please note, this stipend is dependent on State funding and is not part of the YMCA's compensation plan.)
ALSO, CHILDCARE FEES – The State of Maine’s CCAP child Care Employment Award currently provides a childcare subsidy to help childcare workers cover their own childcare fees – up to more than $660/month.
(Stipend and childcare fees are available through our program, contingent upon State funding. These benefits are specific to our program as we meet the necessary licensing requirements. Please note that these are not part of the YMCA's standard compensation plan and may differ from other programs.)
