Requirements:

Preschool Educator

About this Role
Under the direction of the Youth Development Director, and working with the Lead Teacher, the Teacher is responsible for management of a preschool classroom.
Our preschool is open 7:30am - 5:30pm. Teachers work an opening or closing shift.
Your responsibilities will include:

Promotes feelings of mutual respect, acceptance, and appreciation. Supports people with unique experiences or points of view to share their perspectives.
Programming – Create and implement curriculum, activities and materials that meet the unique physical, emotional, social and cognitive needs of the children in our community and is consistent with YMCA processes and goals. Assist children to grow through individual achievements and peer group interactions. Provides effective supervision and supports safety and programming by leading and actively participating in activities with children.
Leadership – Is a collaborative, engaged, and positive role model for all at the Y through good work habits, positive attitude, and respect for the YMCA’s values and rules, including communicating in an effective and timely manner and making sound decisions. Follows all Healthy Eating and Physical Activity and 5-2-1-0 Let’s Go guidelines in the classroom
Relationship Building – Develop positive, authentic relationships within the Y that lead to greater awareness of the Y’s mission and impact, growth in number of people served, as well as revenue. Listens and expresses self effectively and with an understanding of the needs of a particular audience. Encourages family involvement and communicates their child’s development, needs and changes effectively
Personal Growth – Maintains a high degree of emotional maturity and interpersonal skills and is committed to personal growth and skill acquisition. Is an active participant in all trainings and meetings.
Operations & Safety – Ensures the health and safety of each child and follows all YMCA protocols and rules and applicable licensing standards. Keeps group and program areas safe, clean and orderly. Ensures all equipment is in working order and notifies Director when supplies are needed. Provides rapid and timely response to all accidents, situations, incidents and emergencies appropriately, calmly and professionally using proper techniques and completes incident reports as needed. Reports all concerns to Director.
Data Tracking & Documentation –Maintains accurate and consistent data tracking and documentation, as required.
We’re looking for someone with:
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (or be actively enrolled in a GED or HiSET preparation program).
Twelve months of experience working in an age-appropriate child care-related position.
Effective interpersonal skills, with a customer service focus.
Ability to work independently as well as within teams to complete all work in a timely and effective manner.
Attention to detail and excellent organizational and decision-making skills.
Additionally, the right candidate must:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Be able to travel locally.
Be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Complete a criminal background check, including fingerprinting through the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), prior to hire. This will be paid for by the YMCA of Southern Maine.
Salary
$18.00 - 19.00/hour, depending on experience.
PLUS, up to $540/monthly stipend from the State of Maine, through the Early Childhood Educator Workforce Salary Supplement System, for eligible educators. (While available. Please note, this stipend is dependent on State funding and is not part of the YMCA's compensation plan.)
ALSO, CHILDCARE FEES – The State of Maine’s CCAP child Care Employment Award currently provides a childcare subsidy to help childcare workers cover their own childcare fees – up to more than $660/month.
(Stipend and childcare fees are available through our program, contingent upon State funding. These benefits are specific to our program as we meet the necessary licensing requirements. Please note that these are not part of the YMCA's standard compensation plan and may differ from other programs.)

Job Description
The Catherine Cutler Institute at the University of Southern Maine is seeking a Director of Maine Roads to Quality Professional Development Network (MRTQ PDN).
The Director leads Maine Roads to Quality Professional Development Network (MRTQ PDN), a collaborative partnership serving the early childhood education (ECE) and out-of-school time (OST) systems across Maine. The Director aligns the work of PDN partners – the Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies (CCIDS) and the Maine Afterschool Network (MASN) – with contract deliverables and the mission, vision, and strategic goals of MRTQ PDN.
The Director’s major responsibilities include overseeing the strategic development, design, and implementation of MRTQ PDN activities; supervising project staff; and coordinating professional development activities with internal and external partners. In consultation with team leads and grants and contracts staff, the Director also develops and manages the project budget, including a detailed work plan, and monitors budget negotiations with state programmatic and budgetary staff.
This position requires knowledge of the ECE and OST systems, experience with developing and monitoring budgets, and familiarity with strategic human resources management. The Director must demonstrate a commitment to collaborative leadership, shared decision-making, equity, and inclusion with a large, multi-faceted staff as well as to the implementation of the MRTQ PDN Strategic Plan.The Maine Roads to Quality Professional Development Network (MRTQ PDN) supports early childhood and out-of-school-time professionals in developing the expertise necessary to provide high quality, inclusive, and culturally responsive care to Maine’s children. MRTQ PDN consists of a partnership with the Catherine Cutler Institute at the University of Southern Maine, the University of Maine Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies, and the Maine Afterschool Network.
